to save me time calling all these companies, can anyone recommend an insurer who doesn't take a dislike to modified cars?

i just got a policy out with elephant on my mk3 golf driver 1.8...0 NBC (my fault in an accident), 3 points sp30, alloys, lowered, 20 years old, 1400 quid im happy with that, endsliegh wanted £4k

BUT alot of it depends on how old you are and how much you have modified your car

I'm 39, drive a Zafira GSI (TMS stage 2 giving 230bhp). no points, ever. but wife has had 2 claims in last 3 yrs. i have 9yrs protected no claims discount. Existing AA insurer has doubled fully comp to £1,100, that is protecting my no claims. WAY TOO MUCH! Other quotes (from Churchill/Direct Line) are around £600-£700 with no protection on the no-claims discount. Lowest quote thus far is through MoreThan <£500, no protection on no-claim discount. i reckon that is still expensive for old git driving a Zafira. Surely 15% extra power and wife having 2 claims totalling £2,000 in 3yrs can't be that bad??
