To re-send out your V5!!!

I've recently taken a deposit for my car, and instantly transfered my plate off it, got my new tax disk and number plates back, so all ready to sell the car when i get the log book, but they're now saying it can take up to a MONTH for them to get a V5 to you!!
In the past when iu sold my other Gsi its all been done in about 2 weeks.

Just a word of warning for anyone selling a car with a private plate!!

its all done by computer now so it should be quicker than before

Mine took little more than a week and a half when I removed the plate from my Merc back in November...

I got mine last week - only took about 2 weeks to come through although they do say to allow 4-8 weeks, which is talking the piss slightly!

They said up to 4 weeks when i did mine and i still had it back in about 10 days

I'm guessing you've called them to chase as your tax will probably be due, and they'll send you a fine, like they did my dad, who sold the said car about 6 months before, and sent the log book off.

Or they may just be sitting on their hands and picking their arses. Useless. For a change of owner and the following V5 document it took them about 10weeks for my car.

They quote upto 6 weeks depending on how busy they are, however most come in well before this. New car logbooks take as little as 3 days to come through, with a cherished transfer it can take a little longer (and used cars as well).

chased it up..got no where,
tax form came still as a 1.4,
so it was taxed as that...
