you CAN make the 16v handle just as well. its just a case of what your willing to do on the suspension side of things, BUT standard for standard the 8v will be better due to the lump being lighter. hence mi16 205's handle none too shabby out of the box compared to valver novas
you know any 1 who wants to swap?? ha ha, well my car feels very front heavy and i dont feel happy going into corners at all. aint fussed about having the crazy top speeds no more,
would rather have fast around and out of corners
I'd recommend the 2.0 8v engine out the earlier Cav SRi's. 130bhp, smashing free revving engine and none of your porous head nonsense either.
I'm not being bias either as I currently drive an Astra GTE 16v which I love to bits, but there is something I cant put my finger on with the SEH lump - it just runs and runs!
Aren't they pretty much the same block? I would have thought that given the age of the XE engines now any that were going to go porus would have done so by now and been repaired. Out of the 3 XE's I have had non have been porus.
so if the 16V bottom ends have 'uber strength' whats the point in puttin a 8V in? just get the porous mod done if your worried about that sort of thing
i like the good old 8v engine. like what some people mentioned their bloody bulletproof. i have a mk2 astra gte 8v and i have a stripped down c20xe waiting to go in but now im having second thoughts as i would like to turbo the 8v instead,
no offence but he has either chosen prob the most incompatible parts on the planet, or has had it set up really crap. My baby 8v more than a match for the standard xe as per my sig so the 2.0 8v with said mods would defo beat a standard xe
(unless ignorance is bliss where the xe is concerned  )
