1/4 mile times

Here's a question for you, having watched a particular (awesome) film on the weekend, I was wondering, what cars have us Brits got that can manage a sub 10 second 1/4 mile?

I was trying to remember that huge list that was displayed here a while back, but the only car I can think of that could get close would be a Caterham, and despite stupid acceleration, even those lose out on top speed.

I was thinking of that yesterday as well. I'm sure there must be some cars that can do it but the LC does it in 13.5 and I've got a clip of a twin engined VR6 doing it in 12.5. Whatever car can do it it must be a very fast one...

There's an Orange/white E****t that's in Revs that does 11.55 or so, and another twin engined R5 T****0 that does about the same time. 500+ donkeys pulling them along. The R5 has a 250bhp engine in the boot as well as the front. WIERD!

So are you saying the McLaren F1 isn't a British car? OK so it's powered by a BMW engine and was designed by a South African but if you're classing the XJ220 as British then I'd say the McLaren is too. Still doesn't help beat the time though

I was there on that revs day and have got to say that the escort cossie look ballistic. best time it ran was 11.42.

I was happy with the performance of my car as it was 7th fastest in the fwd class but nothing compared to those cars in the 4wd class.

169 bhp of vauxhall power in a mini. Its a bit low for one of these engines though but it still keeps a smile on my face.
