No one please post after this saying "well it still might happen" Because you will kill my happiness straight away
Which I deserve after worrying all this time.

    worried....

I'm always up and down the m25 at varying speeds, sometimes over 70, sometimes not. This time though, for no reason at all (no flash as far as i know), I'm really paranoid I got caught speeding. Can anyone confirm whether I would definitely have seen a flash if that were the case.

Also....does anyone here know whether there are ANY cameras on motorways that don't flash? This paranoia is driving me mad! I'm convinced somewhere (m25, m4 or m5) i've been caught but not flashed.

im afraid you have to do a lot better than that to prevent them getting your number....

How about placing hundreds of Infra red high power LEDs all around the numbers and letters on the number plate such that a camera taking a quick snap will be blinded by the intensity of the infra red light which is invisible to normal human eyes, therefore cause a blank plate to appear in the picture, or overexposed around the number plare region, worth an experiment and I hope the speed cameras don't use infra red filters.

As I understood it, those gantry cameras are only operative when they display a speed, as opposed to when the lights are unlit.

N.B. I know this is an ancient thread.

I think they are always in operation - when i was flashed no speed limit was shown although at +130mph they might be set to catch "Stupid People"

My Guess is that when no speed limit is shown they are set for 100+ mph.

Good luck all and happy new year!

I just dont speed on the M25 in the speed camera section... full stop - maybe 72 on my speedo but that isnt even 70 on my satnav!!! There are signs everywhere, lines everywhere... and you save about 30 seconds... whats the point! Everywhere else where there is no speed cameras i generally stick to 80...

I travel the section between the M4 and and Staines (jnc. 15 to 13) on a couple of times a week and know that there are no cameras there.

For those who don't know, not every gantry can take a camera. The ones that can have retangular cut outs in the back of them ready for the camera boxes to be "plugged in". There are two sets of these (one on each side on the m-way) on the section I drive alot - which are empty atm - doesnt mean the buggaz canput one in.

One thing I have noticed... as you leave the VSL area, there is no sign to say "VSL ends"... like by the M40... I think there should be!!!

"The speed recording units at the relevant section of the M25 are
Serco Speed Enforcement Systems Type 1. It is a condition of their type
approval by the Secretary of State for Transport that they be used *singly*,
presumably to eliminate interference between the units. On the gantries
above that M25 section they are used in arrays of three or four per gantry."

    Thats interesting.....

a few years ago a company astra diesel estate (lovingly known as Tommy the tank) was snapped between the M4 and M40 junctions, doing about 110 - so the cameras are on all the time. Still quite an achievement to get that out of it, as the engine was shot !!!

Only know that as I had been driving it up until a few weeks before then, and managed to prove that it wasn't me at the time

Unhappy Re: M25 hidden speed cameras

    Hi,

I was going on the M25 between Junctions 13-16 and I think I went past Junction 14 around 110mph at about 1.30am.. (definitely over 100! )
i got flashed but i've been around the M25 orbital loads of times at high speed!
    Whats your views?
    I'm scared! lol
