Could have started with a decent shell. I've seen better condition ones in the scrappy.

The last cally I broke up had rust just like those pics.

I put axle stands under the sills and they just dissappeared into the car. Took the skirts off and the amount of rot underneath was incredible. like an old metro or something.
The entire rear 18 inches of sill dissappeared into a pile of rusty mush on the floor. the rear arch outer skin separated from the inner and peeled right away around most of the circumference of the arch.

    Good luck.

The calibra Tailgate looks like a welded shut pickup anyway.

has anyone acually made it a drop down tailgate?

i seen a calibra convertable at pvs05 it looked horrible, and as for the rust it really is just surface, the rest of the shell is solid, we got the car for free so why not use it?

Generally cars are given away free for a reason though mate. Still don't think a bit of rust will trouble you seeing as what you've already done to it.

It looks like the Calibra was designed to be a convertible with no frames around the door tops and the sweeping rear.
