200mph Calibra's have been done... several times. My Calibra won't do 200mph, and it won't do that speed any time soon... but next year i'm gonna have a fecking good crack on Bruntingthorpe (*cough M1 cough*)

    Good point FBI
It has? I know of ONE Calibra that has topped 200mph. It cost something like 60k to do... (3.2 V6 + Supercharger).

Frank Denker did it. He has an M3 now as he broke the Calibra for bits.

hate to say it mate - but it's been acheived already a V6 over in belgium iirc made just over 200mph -

If you could get the calibra turbo with a six speed box to rev to 8000rpm it WILL make 200mph

The rest of the sie is garbage though - I personally prefer the cally over the cav - although love the Mk3 astras gsi , not a major fan of the Mk2 although wouldn't say it's the worse vxl ever by no means

well, i have had a calibra, 3 gsi's (inc a 2.5 conversion), omega mv6 ex plod and now on an sri redtop (hopefully not for long tho) all of them are good cars, calibra still looks good but its not my preffered choice. would rather have a gsi anyday (or a v6 cav but hey dreams and all that!) chavtastic, get real, rather than using pish poor pictures of the lowest spec cav available, why not post up some gsi's/sri's etc, if the calibra is as good as you say then you have no worries!!

Yes.....although not 100% sure about really early GL models (F/G platers). SRi's have them, SEH, NE, XE and XEV.

Just to go on from this.

The only 180+mph Calibra is the one that has now been stripped of parts. It had 18" alloys, and had a rev limiter of 8200rpm I think. The guy worked it out that he COULD do 200mph, jsut about on the limiter, with the 18"s.

He had a 500bhp Supercharged V6. With Nitrous (Shouldn't NOS NOT be used for top speed runs due to head melting?). I'll try to find a picture of the car. Im SURE it was stripped though.

Even that guy said that he hadn't done that speed, and was just worked out "hypothetically".

Anyone know of any 500bhp LET Calibras then with a raised rev limiter and big rims? If not, it wont even touch 180mph let aloine 200mph.

As for teh website, i wont even bother goign on there. Read to many posts about the users being so far up their own bottoms they can lick their own tonsils. lmao

Actually it had 19 inch BBS split rims.

He didn't use ANY NOS on the top speed run. 400bhp did the job. - he used a driver to do the run and has pictures.

One has been done yeah. No more. AS i say, unless your runnign the F28, with a much higher limiter, or modified ratios, it wont hit 200mph.

The only real 200mph Calibra (using original Vauxhall engine). But as i say, even that was theretical. Wind density at 150mph doubles. Its keep getting harder as the speeds rise.

Like in Audio, once you get to 145db, you need double the power to gain 1db more.

Darn - you got there first!

Frank said his car ate gearboxes by the way... so the F28 isn't really the ideal solution.

I agree, maybe with a better box etc. But fundimentally, this guy had big bhp, big torque, a stremlined car, and only a "speedo" recorded 320kph.

Now we ALL know how close vauxhall speedos are to actual speed lmao

But, who in this country has gone anything like to this level of tuning. No-one really, plus to get that speed, you will need a damn long road. It'll take miles to reach the peak RPM to gain 200mph.

A calibra is a 150-170mph car. 400+bhp cossies without whaltails are only just hitting 170. The calibra is more areodynamic, but its not a 200mph car at all.

Well I've spoken with Frank many a time - he's an honest bloke and has nothing to prove. He used a GPS system to get the overall speed but took the photo of the dash reading 298kph because he could.

He seems hell bent on getting his BMW up there now.. lol.

BTW - he had the Calibra to 202mph - there is a decimal point but I can't guess it!

Name a standard production car with 400bhp that can top 200mph

I can't think of a single car that can crack 200mph and has much less than 500bhp!!

    McLaren F1 - 627bhp, 240mph
    Zonda C12S - 550bhp, 220mph
    XJ220 - 542bhp, 217mph
    Diablo - 492bhp, 206mph
    F40 - 478bhp, 201mph

Erm.. it's not my place to argue the point. I'm only posting what I've been told. I wasn't there and I cannot prove anything.. but I believe the bloke; I have no reason not to.
