Change from cav 1.8 to cal 2.0??

Am goin to see a calibra the night. I'm bored with the cavy already so i want a cally.. So the question is... Do i keep the cavy 1.8 or try my nads at gettin the caly? The calibra bein the 2.0 8v ment to be 130bhp. Look good to. Already sittin on the deck.. One job less.. So what yous think?

    Cavy or Cally?

Cally but don't bother with the 8v, the 16v doesn't cost much more to insure or run.

Calibra 8v's are 115bhp. C20NE fitted (not the 130bhp SEH). But it will be quicker than the Cavalier.

Same engine as the GTE cabrio...lol I doubt it's the 130bhp lump unless someone's fitted it after. As standard they came with C20NE.

Poke your head underneath and see if you can see an 02 sensor fitted. What reg is the car?

Def a C20NE. About 135mph you'll get in the Cally with those aerodynamics... left my mate's Cav at 120

Sounds like a nice car have you got a good price?

135 i need a 8v cally! My astra only does 137mph and thats 150 bhp. Yes the calibra is more aerodynamical but that only helps to a certain extent.

It will be an NE. But I'm pretty sure they all came with Catalysts. Check underneath to see if it's either got one or a cat replacement pipe.

With respect to late versions yeah. NE was also fitted to other cars in the VX range earlier on. I cannot remember what years VX started fitting cats to the NE to make it the C20NE.

Engine code will indicate as/which engine it is, but I can't remember what distinguished them from the SEH externally and numerically. Tom Stickland will probably know, or any of the other 8v gurus.

Seriously you can pick up a 16 valver for the same kind of money

    Cheap Mot'd Calibra Redtop 16v 375 Quid

There are loads on autotrader and ebay also... but your local paper is the best bet. Not just faster but smoother and nicer to drive

    So have I! LOL

Never driven an XE that's smoother than an NE. Yeah, they are quicker, but are far from smooth. Better fun though and more involving, I agree.

Ye but the car in that link has water/oil mixin.. No thanks. Might be daft but no that much. I can get this car for peanuts as to why i want the 8 valve. I cant be assed lookin for a valver when i can get the 8 for such a pathetic price. I need to know how i distinguish from ne and se and what car is better/nicer. My cav or cally?

8v is a better motorway car although not as quick as the XE. But they are decent engines. I like the 20NEs.

Why is it a better motorway car? Overtaking above 60mph is dangerous lmao
