Thumbs up Corsa 2.0 TB now alive and moving

Finally, the corsa got it's 2.0 transplant at the weekend, and I finally got it moving today. No exhaust system so felt pretty rough, and the TB set up wasn't perfect, but it does move lol. Couldn't go too far as have no insurance (doesn't start till tomorrow). I am just glad it is going. Thanks to AndyMcS and rodgerq who helped me remove the old engine, and especially to weekenny who built the engine (to a very high std) and was a massive help fitting is this weekend (just about a 12 hr shift both sat and sunday, as well as all friday night, above and beyond the call of duty mate, and much appreciated). Unfortunately all the thanks he got was a bump on the head when I managed to drop a bonnet on him on a scrapped car we were stripping for engine mount bolts, sorry again mate .

I am taking the car to get an exhaust manifold built tomorrow, no pics yet unfortunately but some will be up asap.

you are not wrong mate, trying to balance the TBs while it was roaring avay was not easy, but got a reasonable balance, will redo it once the zaust is on. Only probelm is a 40 mile drive on just a manifold and short decat pipe to get to the exhaust place, will take it easy and carry coolant oil and a few tools just in case.

pah, 40 miles? i drove home from the nuurburg ring with just a manifold for an exhaust(long story) lmao

seriously though, a trailer would be better if you can, or even a tow, cos you could easily melt or set light to stuff around the manifold exit, i melted my oil pressure switch wiring for example

glad you got it all going though dude, be interested to see how different you think it feels, now you've got a big block

i await your progress report lmao

yeah, made it, wasn't just the manifold, I had a short decat pipe on there too which did absolutely nothing to quieten it down, but did take the heat away from the engine bay so haven't melted anything thankfully. Was a nervey drive with one eye on the temp gauge and the other looking for police (A77 is crawling with them) to get to the exhaust place I had to drive right past a police station, but thankfully I got there OK and the car didn't miss a beat, loose any oil or coolant. Was actually only 30 miles it turned out lol. The car is pretty rough to drive as it has not a lot of torque due to the lack of an exhaust, and the throttle linkage is not right yet, very heavy and too short pedal travel(gave us a lot of bother on sat night, Kenny had to rebuild it several times to get somthing that worked at all, I love that jenvey linkage 90 quid what a rip off). The car will be ready on friday, cant wait. Kenny, I probably will drop over to give you a look around 5pm if that is OK mate.

great Kenny, will bring the gear with me, will also need your skills with the grinder again to take a couple of mm off the CV shafts so I can get the centre caps on my wheels again. We can get your car balanced up as well.

lol hope not, I specifically said to the guys that the engine was freshly built and I didn't want it driven hard on a test drive and they agreed so won't be happy if that had happened.
