Great renewal premium from HIC !!!!!

Well the missus had her renewal through from HIC this morning :

Vauxhall Astra 1.4 Merit (60bhp) - 1994 L reg - 2 years NCD and no convictions/accidents :

£412.02 fully comp

Now I said this was a great renewal premium because we've been dying to move away from HIC ever since they charged us extortionate amounts of money to change cars mid term on the insurance.

A quick blitz on the insurance sites came up with these renewal premiums :

Diamond - £253 fully comp with £250 excess
Tesco.com - £271 fully comp with £200 excess
Direct line - £279 fully comp with £200 excess
Sainsburys - £353 fully comp with £250 excess

Ahhh being old has its advantages - we might even be able to get it a little cheaper with a bit of haggling

Re: Great renewal premium from HIC !!!!!

A lot of people seem annoyed with HIC now and having probs with expensive premiums. I'm happy as hell with them though.

438 TPF&T for the cally 16v 12k miles
&
330 TPF&T for the xe'd nova 3k miles

thats at 25 with 2y ncb used on the cally

The missus needs to build her NCD up herself. I've already got my NCD used on my Cavalier (£240 fully comp) so cant use it on another policy.

Re: Great renewal premium from HIC !!!!!

Admiral have just informed me that I can't use my NCB which I earned with them as I've not been insured for the last 3 years (apart from through the company on their insurance for the co. car.

So even through i was insured with them for a few years before and gone back as soon as I need insurance, they are not honouring it.

Can't keep it for more than 2 years apparently, although none of their documentation tells you that, you are just suppposed to know because thats "that what the insurance industry does".

So thats cancelled and I need to find somebody with a better attitude....

That is a standard unwritten rule, although its probably in the small print.
If you have lots of no claims but wont be driving for over two years its well worth insuring a mini or something similar just to keep the no claims.

Ive just got my renewal from liv-vic,
Zero no claims as ive just wiped the 2 years i had with the crash ive just had.
30 years old,3 points for speeding, and a previous ban to declare.
On a re-built nova XE,all mods declared.
All for £495 fully comp with £100 exess.(exess gone down this year)
They have been great with the claim ive just been through aswell!
I got a brand new astra coupe hire car for 4 weeks(which is about £70 a week)
I got £1700 and got to keep the car to repair, also it hasnt been declared as written off to the dvla which is a bonus, but my exess was £350 last year so i only actually got £1350 + the car.
And if/when i needed to contact them they were very helpfull and even rang you back straight away to save your phone bill!
