Went to see that Cav GSi 2wd with the Cav Turbo engine, 6 speed box, leather,etc.... in it today.
The car looked really nice but could do with a bit of a clean inside and out. Leathers were fine, no rips or cracking.
Engine sounded fine and went fine but had 135,000 on the clocks (stripped from same Cav Turbo as the engine).
The car is low as f*ck and it handled really well (better than expected).
Was good to drive but clutch was stiff (clutch on the way out????)
Its also got a charge cooler, but it wasnt wired up.
if uprated clutch fitted will be stiff, or possibly needs new cable,
do away with charge cooler and buy richies intercooler! charge cooler pretty much ineffective after 1 bar or so im told
Aye was chargecooler I was selling but its been sold now....
Chargecoolers are fine and you will notice a diff with it turned on even upto 1 bar and more.... just not as effective as a LARGE intercooler (small ones are equal)
Just phoned insurance and they will have to cancel my policy and start a new one (i only have 3 months left on this one)
They wont insure engine conversions with my broker.
Oh well ill just have to get a Real Cav Turbo instead.
P.S The GSi Turbo is still registered as a GSi. BUT i wouldnt like to risk my insurance if i lied to them.
that's a good point though if the car has a valid engineers report to specify that it has been professionally fitted and checked, then I think that most of the performance insurance specialists accept that. when u had a look at it, was the turbo smoking in any way?
but surely a normal cav turbo (standard) would be cheaper to insure than the cav gsi turbo, which is a cav gsi with a turbo engine, putting it into modified car insurance
Its not much more money to buy a genuine 4x4 Tutbo is it?/
Then at least you dont have to pay modified insurance, and you get 4 wheel drive.MMm(WANT ONE)
