I tried meguiars ultimate compound the other day and it didn't seem to work. I rubbed it in for a good 20 minutes on one spot and there was no change in colour. I was just wondering if I'm being too impatient and if anyone had any tips.

What colour is the car? Sounds like you have clear lacquer on.
The quality of today's music is being ruined www.turnmeup.org
Might be better off having someone with a machine polisher go over it before getting sprayed incase it can be taken back to life.

What you trying to do mate? is the car flame pink?.. if so ult compound wnt do the job unless you use a da with a orange hex cutting pad! Failing that then you could try and dampen a microfibre pad and add 3 pea size amounts and slowly work a small area at a time, when the ult compound start to break up it will go slightly dusty if so then this is the product starting to work! just a case of small medium rubbing until it starts to look as if its wiping off!.

Ye unfortunately it's flame pink. It just all the plastic exterior. There's a clear lacquer over the paint. I was going to try a machine polisher see if
That did anything.
I've never got flame red painted plastics to come back. Had a mk3 Astra that we managed to get back to a reasonable shade of red by hand (took an entire weekend) but the filler flap always stayed the same old faded pink - nothing would touch it.
Vehicle detail's????...... minding there was a lack for clear coat on some red models hence why theres a fair few flamers running about. Wont have any problem with an orange hex pad and some 3m products, could try the ult on that but will need a fair few passes and with a da it is possible and can be done, did a corsa 4 month back and do a top up every 3 months for one of my customers who had the same effect however all thats needed on hers is a polish up and good wax to maintain.

If there was a lacquer over the paint then the paint shouldn't be oxidised in the first place... probably find there wnt be but any paint gauge would show if you can get your mitt's on one.

There's a few parts where there's like a film peeling off.
