    Polishing glass

It'd seem that a previous owner thought it'd be a good idea to use sand as screen wash in my car which has resulted in the screen having wiper marks all over it. Can I polish this myself with a machine polisher and something with a cut or do I need something proper?

Anything that cuts should do it, i've seen it done on small things like watch crystals with brasso (!) but t cut or something might be worth a go with a machine polisher. Or it might utterly destroy it. Either way, subscribed

edit: jewellers rouge (i think) might be worth looking at

Dick Raper refurbed some Astra mk4 headlights with cutting compound IIRC. OK, it's no windscreen but similar I'd say.

are astra headlights not plastic, hence the yellowing?

I tried sorting a windscreen years ago using G3 and a machine compounder, made no difference at all really so ended up with a new screen

I've used G3 on glass and remove alot of but not all marks.

anything that cuts WILL work, it's just a question of how deep vs how long you do it lmao

    Re: Polishing glass

these were deep semicircles from grit in the wipers. The G3 did remove the swirls and small blemishes but not the main damage. Got a new top tint supplied and fitted for £90 lol

    Re: Polishing glass

I'll try and polish mine first to see if it's successful or not, I can't make it any worse than what it is surely! Failing that it's new windscreen time.
