i found a clay bar was the easiest way of getting it off, but there are loads of products out there if you dont want to use a clay

used loads of stuff, clay bars good, but found it wouldnt get some of the tougher bits off. I use Jizer engine degreaser most of the time, works a charm!

    80 grit ;-)

id clay bar it, really quite easy to do and instant results then do the whole car, its easy to get carried away with the clay as its so easy but you must wax the car afterwards

    Re: tar remover

There is only one tar remover that will shift 100% of tar stains and thats Autosmarts Tardis. If using this product you need a chemical spray head on your bottle otherwise it will eat through the plastic of a normal spray head. Just spray the product on the affected area and you will see the tar dissolve before your eyes. Rinse the panel with water after use, A word of warning do not spray this product near any badges on vehicle or it WILL disolve the glue holding them on ........a plus point about this is that is superb for de-badging or removing stickers from glass etc.
Iron X is another great product but used for removing iron particles embedded in the paint from brake disc or fall out use in the exact same way as tardis , you will see the it turn purple as it removes the contam off the paint.
Clay bars are to be used AFTER using these products as they will not remove tar spots completely but are good at removing minor surface contaminates. So INMHO Tardis is no1 for removing tar just read the threads on detailing world hope this helps people out

I'm also a fan of the petrol method lol, as long as you give it a polish/wax afterwards.
