cleaning detailing newbie...sort my paint out advice cheers!

Below is my project car...tonight I have cleaned her with fairy up liquid and cif cream cleaner to remove the oil around the bonnet and door shuts as she has just had an xe dropped in.

There is a lad I know who will make it gleam using all his kit, clay bar and wax etc for £60 but as its summer im not bothered about getting my hands dirty as I have ended up sticking the xe in myself when it was supposed to be someone else !

What products would you advise me on for starting out cheers.

If you've used cif and fairy liquid, I'd suggest wirewool with nitromors as a lubricant to bring the shine back.

Apologies, thought thread was a wind-up.
An abrasive polish, a firm pad, and lots of elbow grease, although results may not be too good considering products used and may need wet and dry.

Never use either of the two you've used to clean the car.

Buy a good shampoo to start with. I'm using this at the mo as i wanted to try it. It's very good, thick and lasts along time in the bucket.(Club members get discount from there too)

Meguiars Ultimate Wash & Wax 48oz - Elite Car Care

Get a good clay bar, tbh they are very closely the same. Only getting more tackey as they go. A load to choise from here (i use Dodo juice clay)

Professional Detailing Clay - Clay Lubricants - Clay Kits - Elite Car Care

Polish wise, 3M make very good stuff that is simple to use and well priced.

    - Elite Car Care

    Then something like this..

Depending how bad your paint is..(bad)

3M Perfect-it III Fast Cut Plus Compound (50417) - Elite Car Care

    Or (not to bad)

3M Perfect-it III Ultrafina SE Polish (50383) - Elite Car Care

Or if you want a smaller bottle you can use any of these..

    - Meguiars Deep Crystal Step Two - Polish Elite Car Care

Poorboy's Pro Polish 2 - Elite Car Care

    Then on to waxing.

    - Elite Car Care

    Very long last wax,

    - Collinite #476s Paste Wax Detailing Kit Elite Car Care

    Very good,

    - Meguiars Deep Crystal Step Three - Carnauba Wax Elite Car Care

    - Meguiars NXT 2.0 Tech Wax Elite Car Care

Dodo jusic do great waxes, but are colour of paint dependent.
