strange staining on front of headlights like some kindof melted tint film??

Hi guys

I have a vectra c cdti 150 and im goin thro the proccess of cleaning it up atm.
Ive noticed that both the front headlights seem to have some kindof horrible staining that wont budge on the outside. If i was to guess it looks like some kindof tint film thats bubbled up and smeared over the outside.
Ive tried to clean it up and only made it worst as now it seems to be spreading around as i try to remove it!
Any ideas as to what it is would be most helpfull guys and even better, tips on how to get this off as it looks really crappy

Its oxidisation of teh plastic lens, a good working with a machine polisher and some cutting compound should do the job mate

Nice one matey, in the time ive had this post up ive been given that advise and wet and dried the lens down with 600 grit then 1200 grit , then polished them up with drill attachement soft cloth! Looks alot better now >>> cheers for the info tho!

That's come out well. What attachment did you use and what compound?

I had the white block compound i had from when i use to to polish my rocker cover on my cali and a soft cloth attachment that goes onto the end of my drill..
Wasnt to hard tbh, Once i rubbed the lenses down with the 800 then the 1200 i simply run the drill attachment on the white compound so it melted onto it and just kept goin over it till it started to clear and shine, tbh the pics dont do much justice cos they look like new now

Think im gonna have to try this sometime, i have exactly the same problem on my headlights. Could i just use a soft cloth & some white compound, cos i don't really want to buy a drill and an attachment just to do this with. Also where's best to buy the white compound from?
