Angry How to remove grinding bits from paint and glass

basically my car is covered in bits of grit from a grinder (not from me as i actually treat my car with a little respect), ive jet washed the car and theres still bits every where, passenger side front and rear window, the back window and the front.
then obviously all the surrounding panels

im basically thinking about sending it to a body shop to get the paintwork sorted while the engine bay gets painted but id rather have ago myself first then have the paint shop rebuff all the panels and make it look all shiney and so i have change from the money ive got for the damage

    help please

Clay bar will lift it from the paint and glass, but its burn/melted on to the glass. The paint will want a polish and wax after.

if you've washed it you may be looking at getting it painted as the metal filings will of started to rust on the panel, could be wrong, but thats in my experience.

there not that deep mate, i can pick them off but obviously it will take ages to do it and its scratching the paint. The car recently had a full respray so another is not really an option.

I just want to get the worst off and let a pro finish it off

Yes that clay is ok. Just be careful when you do it. Do a panel at at time and work the clay in on its self after each panel.

Re: How to remove grinding bits from paint and glass

My mrs used a meguirs clay bar to lift the angle grinder spray that was all over the bonnet of my corsa C, I was amazed how well it came up afterwards.

Obviously as said though if its melted right into the paint you at best going to be left with pitting once the offended articles are removed, and it may not come out at all even with clay if its really far in.

The reason to keep working the clay back in, and throwing away when that stops working is otherwise you will scratch the panel with all the contaiminents in the clay you have picked up.

my mrs used several pieces of clay (you use a bit about the size of a dice at a time) to do one panel on my car as it was really bad.

so just keep looking at the clay as you are going

oh, and keep the panel well lubed, the meguirs kit comes with a speed detailer spray useful for this

Re: How to remove grinding bits from paint and glass

thanks chip, i bought the megs kit and ive tryied it on the roof, its removed the grit but i was then left with the pitting on the lacquer, so i gave it a polish and removed most of it but im more than confident a machine will get rid of it so im going to clay the rest of the car and when the enginebay gets painted il get the guy to mop the full car.

thanks to all the replys, id of never thought of clay bar, ive never actually used it either but im impressed so il no dout use the clay more often when cleaning the car.

Dont know if that's aimed at me, if it is. I know. And even a small bit (i cut mine in to 3bits) will do a car quite a few times. No matter how bad the surface is.
