    Anyone polished their cloudy headlights?

I've got a mark 4 astra with a cloudy yellow coloured headlight, does this stuff actually work, anybody tried it?

VAUXHALL OPEL VECTRA ZAFIRA HEADLAMP HEADLIGHT POLISH on eBay (end time 16-May-10 09:35:19 BST)

I always assumed it was just moisture or something inside the light, but never actually looked properly, then I saw this stuff. Is it just tcut or something similar? (I have that already ) I will have a proper look at the light and see if it looks like its inside or outside, if it looks outside I might give it a go.

That's what I was thinking, was going to try some stage 1 meguirs or t cut or something and a lot of polishing, but would that give the same effect?

I've found Meguiars PlastX to be very very good at making plastic headlamps look like new.

Cheers both, mike will that get rid of the yellow colour? Basically one side has a brand new headlight and the other is original, and loks awful, want to get the old one looking clear and shiny if possible.

Jamie, really? Just keep rubbing it in? Will that give the effect I'm after? Must be good for the teeth then!lmao

It depends if the damage is on the surface or actually penetrated the plastic. If anything is going to sort it, I'm pretty sure PlastiX will (amoung other things such as minty fresh toothpaste apparently!). If the damage is under the surface, nothing will fix it.

Hmm it looks pretty bad so maybe it might be beyond saving, suppose its worth a go for 8 or 9 quid.

Searching around I found this, is the sanding necessary or will the PlastiX do a lot of the work? Don't trust myself to not scratch the hell out of the plastic!!!:

Re: Anyone polished their cloudy headlights?

Supras with the plastic headlamps (imports - UK spec ones have glass headlamp iirc) suffer very badly from this. If you use "sandpaper", you will need a 2500 grit to finish off, otherwise you will not get them fully clear again. Unfortunately, 2500 grit can be difficult to come by, so you will need to order it online - again, Meguiars sell this. I have some and it is great to use when touching up chips etc.

    Or, any brand on ebay:

Ya... I also have removed this using 2000 sanpapaper and then yellow pad + menzerna cut compound.

IMHO products like Meguiar plastic Polish are not enough to remove it
