i would use a steam cleaner first. then wash it with normal car shampoo but use old sponges and rags.
0-60 in........about a minute!
my option would be 5 litres of brake and clutch cleaner cover the floor in newspaper and get a spray pump for spraying the cleaner on and it will wash it off
this will be a messy job whatever way you choose to do it

cover all your electrics and sensors with tin foil or cling wrap or somthing like that and then spray the whole engine bay with gunk or brake cleaner and rinses of with a hose, then finish up after its dryed with autoglym rubber and vinyl care on the blacks or use instant tyre dressing by autoglym on the plastics/blacks
Because I'm a complete nutter I would stand there with the pressure washer on dirt blast lmao lmao

Gunks is sh*te, get a good de-greaser brush it all over neat.
Then use a jet wash to wash it all off, then normal shampoo after.
I'm louder than gods own revolver and twice as shiney.
If it is really bad an initial brushing with paraffin (before the degreaser) letting it soak in can help loosen the thick bits.

my 2p? I like gunk engine degreaser but it's pricey, you can buy huge containers of real cheap nasty degreaser from the likes of wilkinsons and other cheap hardware shops ( the type you wouldn't find yourself normally entering)

in my corsa i used elbow grease spray from pound land lol sounds like a no hoper but worked extremly well
then steam cleaned off after leaving for 3-4 mins
