My wife's old Corsa was the same, lots of swirl marks and hologramming (sp?) all over. I used a bit of Meguiars Scratch-X on it followed by a couple of coats of Autoglym Super Resin Polish - although I must add I chose these particular products because that's what I has in the shed at the time! Came up a treat.

i tried some really cheap compound and it did make a bit of a difference but once it was polished a few weeks later it looked the same again, got a shelf full of farecla products in front of my might have to take a few and test them

Yeah, it was bloody hard work and time consuming - it's not as aggressive as G3 by a long shot, but got the results in my case!

I've got to do the wife's Tigra at some point where the neighbourhood cats have been using the bonnet as a f**king slide, so do report back your findings!

Srp will remove some of them, tbh if you can get hold of a polisher/buffer/mop you'll save hours!

Then there are load of great polishes that will remove the marks, depending on what you wanna spend.

One of the best, if not then.

I takes time to get good, you can mess it up and make it look worse. You can also burn thru the lacquer and paint. But if you start on a low speed and go slow you'll be ok.

Not really, they do polishes but not cutting compounds.

Re: removing swirls and light scratches

I had never used a buffer on a car before but i just remembered getting told to go slower on the likes of painted plastics and any edges where the paint is thin, other than that give it a try.

Auto glym is not a cutting polish you need to try something like i did, G3 then G10 and then a liquid wax on top. I also used different pads to put them on, i used a compound pad for the g3 and g10 and a soft sponge like one for the wax, i have a pic somewhere of what i used to give you an idea but they can get quite expensive.

will do, the paints 13 years old so it was never going to be perfect but what a difference, geoing to get him to order something a bit more abrasive to try and polish out the deaper scratches
