Protecting my paint over the winter months

Right then guys let me get one thing straight before i start, i've not got much experience with different kinds/brands of car cleaning equipment, at the moment i'm the average sort of lad that loves to keep the car looking clean but only knows the basics.

My regular cleaning routine would consist if washing the car using a shampoo from my local shop like turtle wax, drying it off with a shammy leather and if the English weather lets me i would polish it with AutoGlym super resin.

I have a Red Astra G which ive just had re-painted 3-4 months ago because the paint had faded really badly in some places, the job was done by the best in my area and cost me a fortune, but was worth every penny as i coulnt of asked for any better.

I use the car nearly every day, but the car will be off the road as much as i can through the winter months to try save it from the salt ect on the roads.

I'm posting this thread as im wanting some advice on what other products/methods to use to protect and give the car the ultimate shine, time is not a problem as i love spending hours tinkering

Bilt Hamber wax on top of the Autoglym. Also a good idea during summer as it helps stop paint fade.

What's your budget? They are so many great waxes and sealents and polishes out there.

Megiuars make good stuff, Dodo jucie is very good, Collinite (sp) is very good and long lasting, Chemical guys too.

Re: Protecting my paint over the winter months

My budged is not high enough for stupid priced waxes ive seen before like £250+, But im willing to spend £100 or so if its quality i get.
The bilt hamber sounds good if i can use it with AutoGlym and also if it stops the car fading in the future.
Is this the only wax thatll do these things?

Whats the best way to apply these waxes as ive no experience with these products before, would it be just like my AutoGlym?

Cheers for your reply's lad - much appreciated.

There are others that will do what you want, but BH is rated amongst the best and is good value too.

Apply it in just the same way as AG SRP.

I'd go for some Collinite, I got some 915 and it's pretty good. It lasts ageeeeeeeeeees! Obviously just do the best job you can before applying. £100 would get you quite a few decent products (Meguairs Clay Kit, good quality microfibre, polish, sealant, etc)

ive used alot of waxes, recently bought some auto glym hi-deff wax (half the rrp on ebay) and i have to say is excellent!! By far the best i have used (tried various meguires ones etc) So for around £25 including 2 aplicators and a microfibre cloth its a bit of a bargain!

for out and out durability and protection during winter buy collinite 476,you can buy it from cleanyourcar.co.uk for around 25quid. and if your willing to spend £100 buy yourself a half decent drying towel, clay bar and a few microfibre polishing cloths.

As long as you throughly do a proper valet and wax, even turtle wax will work.

I use Zymol with no issues on the porsche since 2000
