imy corsa seems to lose its shine really quickly, at the moment i use turtle wax car shampoo and then after that i use some mers polish and giv it a buff, im thinkin i need to wax it or somethin to hold its shine, wot is the best wax to use on black and what stage of cleaning do i apply it to??
try some autoglym liquid wax after you washed and polished...
Any kind of wax is a good start, Mer is just a polish.
Wash the car, polish it then slap the wax on!
Best wax? Theres loads to use depending on your budget.

get some chemical guys petes 53 from clean your car
if you are not gonna pay a professional to correct your paintwork or take it on yourself then you are left with products that simply hide the fine scratches etc. auto glym SRP is the best for this, if you then get some jetseal and then a nice wax to go over the top. try carwashnwax.com loadsa stuff on there

I also have a black car and get super results by giving it a polish first with Auto Glym SRP and then 2 coats of Harly Wax. Awesome results and lasts ages as well
after a good wash and polish get some pdi wax most car cleanin garages will have it and some good sealnt
the shine will last ages
polish with a buffer if you have 1 then auto glym wax worked a dream at the bodyshop were i was.
