    Wax & Sealants

I've just been reading VXRMarcs guide on Waxes & Sealants and wondered if anyone can clarify something for me.

At the moment, I clay, polish (AutoGlym Ultra Deep Shine), glaze (Chemical Guys EZ-Creme Glaze with Acryllic Shine II) and wax the car (Pete's 52).

Would it be OK to use just the Glaze for the polish, wax it and then put something like Chemical Guys Jetseal 109 on top of that? I'd like to try and get the glossy & shiny finish as described in VXRMarcs pages.

    Thanks

    OK.

Is it safe to use just Glaze on it's own without polish?

    Thanks

glaze just enhances the shine and wetness before adding wax but wont cut or mask/fill minor swirls like polish

    Re: Wax & Sealants

Is there meant to be any kind of smell when the Chemical Guys JetSeal is put on the car?

I washed the car, clayed it and polished it and then put the JetSeal (2 coats as per instructions) and there is a strange smell coming from the car. I can't describe it but it was still there the following day.

Could the JetSeal be reacting with something? The only thing I used up till then was the AutoGlym polish.

The JetSeal did give the car a very good shine.

depends on if its a standard sealant or a wax sealant... ah as you can get wax sealant to hold the wax on for longer and give a better shine, or if its standard sealant it goes on first.

Does JetSeal have a smell? That might be what it is. It's just that the smell was still there 24 hours later. I can't describe the smell but you can smell it every now and again when you are around the car.

I haven't driven the car since it was washed 2 days ago.

I will check on it again tomorrow.

The smell is there just a little, but not as bad as the last few days. Probably is the JetSeal.

Poorboys SSR 2.5 Super Swirl remover - can I use this instead of the AutoGlym polish?
    Link to the stuff

    Re: Wax & Sealants

No amount of Wax, sealant, glaze etc will give you the effect that Marc can get, his final finish is all down to the MASSIVE preperation he puts in to the paint work. You will get an improvment but it wont be close to the depth of finish seen on Marcs detailed motors.
You need to have the paint fully corrected to get the results you desire. I dont mean a slap dash effort either that will leave the car covered in holograms, buffer trails and paint marring. The paint needs correcting then refining and Jeweling before any wax's, glazes etc go near the paint.
If you see a paint corrected car in the flesh thats been done well, there is no going back to the dull lifeless finish you get from a bucket of hot soapy water and a load of SRP.
My car protection consists of (after paint correction) Limeprime to cleanse the paint, Poorboys black hole as a glaze, 2no layers of Dodo Juice Supernatural wax topped off with a sealant of Zaino Z8. A perfect combination on a black car IMO.
Once the car is protected i do not tend to hand wash the car for at least a month due to the unavoidable issue of washing causing swirls to the paint work. A snow foam between washes will keep it looking tip top. Once the hard work has been put in the car will continue to look fresh for a very long time.
A typical detail should take you 2 days
If it aint broke dont fix it
