Astra VXR Nurburgring Detail

http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/foru...ad.php?t=81391

..done by the same chap that did the blue one ages ago.

Personal view: probably the biggest display of anal-ness I've ever seen. However, the brake detailing, engine bay details and ICE install is awesome

Re: Astra VXR Nurburgring Detail

Loving the 3 door cossie in some of the pics.

Nice install etc in the astra, but I guess in the long run it will cause it to depreciate because of it, as people buying limited edition cars tend to want them standard generally.

Once again I can't see any difference. (Apart from the engine/ICE)

That exhaust is a little to the left

OTT. That guy is nuts!

Many of the pics at the bottom of the DW page didnt load for me, a bit annoying not seeing the finished article tbh.

Re: Astra VXR Nurburgring Detail

I saw him do a 48hour clear, wax, polish, buff, of a VXR8, OTT in my opinion, but each to there own.

I still love the nurburg though - one mod it does need is a short shift, gear change in the Astra vxr is rubbish.

Re: Astra VXR Nurburgring Detail

I've read the full thread now.

Its funny how most of his plans all looked cack, yet came out really well.

The mock up of the engine bay looked dreadfull, yet all the etched & cromed bits looked ace fitted. The wheels looked crap in the 1st pics, bbut really came out well when back on the car. Likewise with the install. Guy certainly knew what he wanted.

OCD indeed.

Re: Astra VXR Nurburgring Detail

I was going to reg and rag him for been a prick tbo
It’s a mass-produced car ffs but he was expecting the paint work (which is done by a machine not by hand) to be perfect wtf it’s a 20k car but he spent prob 5+ cleaning it before he even drove it?
I like nice looking cars but going to that extreme is pointless on a lets face it a **** Vauxhall (its not a work of art is it now) and I bet if you see it driving down the street you would never know that it has been cleaned every 3 days and 51 layers of wax and crap.
All he has done in my eyes is clean a clean brand new car put some ice in it and put some crappy chrome all over it so about the same as most other chav type people do so does that make him a chav? Well he is a bit special, and I don’t mean the kind that can bend spoons with his mind.

Re: Astra VXR Nurburgring Detail

lol at him thinking about rejecting it cos he found a 1mm 'blob' of paint

The guy must be a nightmare. I wonder if he treats everything else with such attention to detail. eg rejecting his Whopper in BK cos it doesn't look exactly like the one in the picture.

And yeah, I would respect him more if he bought it and immediately drove to the 'ring and thrashed it for 2 months instead of giving it 51 layers of wax. Although is it really not just an advert for his business??

link doesn't work anymore

I remember the blue VXR, total waste of time...there's a bloke that needs to go and get laid instead of spending days on end measuring his paint density

Re: Astra VXR Nurburgring Detail

The first thing thats come in to my head is over the "blob" of paint on the roof, look at the pic the finish on the paint is shocking, theres so much orange peel its al most matt. Chrome on the air box isnt very mirror'ed either and wtf is the engraving on the heat sheld all about?
Filler cap and caps are quite cool but a lil ott.. Love that hes waxed the jubliee clips.
Love the deatill of waxing the brakes and painting the arb white and waxing it..

Credit for the work theys put in.

From reading your threads and seeing your pictures I can safely say that you appear to do as good a job as him, only slightly quicker.

Maybe if he stopped dicking about it wouldn't be so hard work.

I hope that he doesn't bring the wrong impression to the modified Vauxhall scene
