Re: Astra VXR Nurburgring Detail

I think people slagging this bloke off is a bit harsh.

OK, he's a bit OTT (and looks like he's enjoying himself too much in some of the pics,) but he appears to do this for a living, and he is obviously very professional at what he does. If you owned a Veyron or a Koenigsegg would you want an amateur going near it?

Spending so much time cleaning and polishing the Astra road car is questionable, but certain people get a great deal of satisfaction from minting up their motors, just in the same way they do from fitting a body kit or some go-faster engine parts.

Reading his thread I might even try some of that Zaino gear myself... about 70+ coats should do the trick!!

whatever happend to a bucket of warm water some fairy liquid and then when washed rinsed off with a few buckets of cold tapwater?

mine gets washed every few weeks if i remember, or if a bird craps on it, i use autosmart wash n wax, wash car with warm water, rinse off with hosepipe and squeegee windows, but thats me, if he wants to spend god knows how much on cleaning kit and waste all his spare time, tis his choice, still a road car at the end of the day.

Re: Astra VXR Nurburgring Detail

Totally agree !

plenty of knobs around doing all kinds of mods to a car worth less than a packet of fags too !

Why do it ? personal satisfaction ? what

The guy is good at his job, presumably he gets paid to do this as well
kudos to him

The thing is, your end result will look about 90% as good as his. Probably the same to the untrained eye.

You've put in about 1% of the effort and cost as well

The guy runs his own business and does this separately for a hobby - what makes him a simpleton?

Maybe it is your inability to accept that the guy enjoys what he does and is damn good at it that shows where the simpleton is....

Re: Astra VXR Nurburgring Detail

This amazes me.

The guy does this for a living, these threads showcase his work, and I am sure they build up part of his portfolio for potential high spending customers with cars you would not dare whip down the ARC for a £3.20 car wash.

As with any business anyone who is worth their salt dealing with knows what they do like the back of their hand, and can answer any question about their business very easily and with a full proper reply other than yeah that will work mate.

I have spoken to many customers who say my mobile phone knowledge and ability to give step by step instructions over the phone is awesome, and my reply is 'well I am sure you know your business as well as I know mine'

If you went anywhere that offered a professional service you would not expect the salesperson to not know what he was talking about and be able to demonstrate this.

I agree completely although this is not his profession, he runs a Print/Media company to which attention to detail and an eye for Colour etc is a must I would imagine.

When asked questions on car forums his answers are always based on his own knowledge which is vast as he has tried most of the products out there as you can imagine and therefore invaluable even for someone like me who washes his car rather than details it.

PS what do you think of the Nokia E66 as I quite fancy one as an upgrade?

washing up liquid has little bits in it that puts little scratches in the paint job, so if you have an expensive/really good paint job i wouldn't use washing up liquid of any kind.

i use SIMONIZ or what ever it is called lol only bought it because it came with a bucket, back to black, a chamois leather, sponge, wax and something else all for £1.60 (advantages of working in a shop and getting discount) lol.

Look at the amazing job the guy done on my car!

From this

To this

Oh wait... it wasn't him... It was Dave (The Valet Man) who done it... Goes to show, you don't have to spend 45hours working on the car to get it looking good.

Been running one for a couple of weeks, very good phone, awesome features.

Slide feels less springy than the E65 I had before but the 3g and 3g+ are very quick.

Short keys make easy access of everyday features.

I tihnk its a great phone, but I loved the E65 and its almost the same but better, newer, bigger screen.

Ideal - just what I wanted to hear as I am moving from E65 to it as well, with the metal case it will cancel out the only complaint I have had, the plastic coating has worn off on the very top and bottom of the phone - Cheers

Apologies now back on topic

Re: Astra VXR Nurburgring Detail

Actually detailing a car is a very hard process, as much as people like a lot of yourselfs and me infact love getting a fast track slag and tare racing round a track. Others take a different approach to cars.

Put it this way would you want your ferrari washed by a bunch of immegrants in an old petrol station that has pictures of sponge bob on the wall using nothing but dirty water and a jet wash which is going to just rip your paint off???? I most certaonly F....ng wouldn't.

I gurantee 100% that the nurberg will stay clean for ages, even if he takes it out for a drive. I do agree someone paying 5k is a lot of cash for the service, but if you had money to burn which a lets face it a lot of rich people do, they want there car doing correctly.

Now a lot of people on here are saying ..... eerrrrr errrrr y not just up the turbo beef up the injectors and bore out the cylinders and get the power into stupid figures, wel tbh these comments jst make me chuckle, cos u r all jst performance nut casses lol, now this is all very well, but i also get ALOT of people saying to me wi my cars, y do you want a corsa to go like a s**t off a shovel when it looks like s**t on a shoval???? People would argue what you do is a waste of time and money, '''''y not jst get summet fast in the first place they always seem to say''' There is nowt wrong wi that but let me shine it in this way......... When was the last bird impressed by a Scooby or an Evo??? or even better you talking about your Corsa B blitising a ferrari at the lights????........... Given the choice you dont see Paris Hilton Jumping into your lil Cheeky B wi 300 ponnies under the hood do you???? im more thinkin she is gettin into the F430.

Now this jst prooves and i think somes up this whole thing, Paris Hilton, Gorgeous to look at, probs not 2 bad in the bedroom either, but could you honslty live with her everysingle day, only if you are a multi billionaire maybe!!!! All she is, is an over exadurated female. But we all admire models like her dnt we!!!! and it is jst the same as cat walks for clothing fashion designers, they dont half wear some daft stuff, but they are used as templates for the cloths that are worn everyday.

This is exatly what young Paris and these two proabably very boring young lads who have deatiled this nurberg. They are there to show us the techniques and products through the passion of there work!!

So you crack on lads the job is F***in MINT and if there is one person on here that disagrees you are just lying!!! .... and if you dont appricate what they have done, then you gotta ask yourself a question, should you really be into cars at all if you cant even appricate something that 2 lads have spent so much time over????? cos as all my mates would say if it came into Macys car park, ..... THTS PHAT!!!!

Nuff Said

tom mol69. I appreciate the guy's anal blinkers more than I appreciate your grasp of English.

P.S. I think the guy has OCD, just as I think you may be autistic?
