ffs, he obviously loves doing it.. so who cares? People say what he does is pointless, but I'm sure the same could be said for a lot of the modding world

Re: Astra VXR Nurburgring Detail

I dont have a problem with what he's done.

But the first time he has it out, all that OCD stuff will be wasted.

It's a car, it will get rained on, get stonechips.

And thats' just too much work for a DD.

Re: Astra VXR Nurburgring Detail

he is insane with his cleaning.....i wonder what his toilet looks like? -

"3am, checked the toilet again and found some turd that needed correcting.
3.10am, turd corrected. <insert 1 picture of anally clean white toilet with dodgy bible quote engraved into the highly polished chrome seat>"

i would just love to roll past his VXR in my Corsa which hasnt been washed since about 2006 and ever so carefully wheelspin some mud right onto the bonnet hahaha

Re: Astra VXR Nurburgring Detail

Some of the engine bay touches are neat and he has spent time (and a fair bit of £££!) getting them right. The chrome finish in some of the pics looks abit off mind. The stereo is also good, and time spent on getting it right.

Now dont get me wrong, i spend a while washing my car but this guy is nuts!! You have to appreciate the time and effort gone into it all. Some of it is abit excessive IMO (51 layers of polish, WTF!), but then he'd probably call me nuts for spending how ever much i have spent (so far!!) on rebuilding my Nova....

Each to their own at the end of the day!

Oh and clicking the link took me straight to the thread.

Not really sure how you can have 51 'layers' of polish when polish by its nature is an abrasive not a glaze/wax.

Polish... wax.... whatever, still abit OTT. I knew it was 51 layers of something, which still beggars belief!!

Re: Astra VXR Nurburgring Detail

Im not doubting it will wash alot easier Benn, i see why he does it and all that but surely that many layers is OTT?! I mean i washed and polished my bike and/or car fairly often and it lasts. I just think thats abit excessive.... but if he feels the need, who am i to argue! He must go through cleaning products like they are going out of fashion!

do you really think he gives his car a quick wash though. the car looks great paint looks a mile deep with all those layers of paint sealer on it but i really wouldnt bother not if your going to tune it and bugger about with all that changing stuff any value he added to the car achieving that finish was removed and then some by altering a limited edition why didnt he just get a white vxr and let someone else own number 600 that wants to leave it standard just a waste of a limited edition now

They don't do a white VXR m8 - apart from the Nurburgring so far anyway.

And I personally don't think he has done anything to depreciate the car, in 5yrs they will be worth within £500 of the normal one's (I have an Sri Turbo 190 which only 500 made, not worth anymore because it's Ltd TBH)

Oh and for the record (other posts regarding him needing to get laid) the guy is married so I assume he gets laid...he's also put 5k on the clock so it gets driven just like his blue one did

Come on get in right, lol his quote is

Now i then spotted a problem on the roof which i was really unhappy about...A small paint blob about half a mm in size but none the less its there probably a spit from the spray gun...

Half a MM makes all the difference.

I also like the quote about sctratches being very deep. He had to remove 2 microns to get through them. I mean 2 microns!

I can't see all the photos for some reason, but like some of his work.

There is just too many plaques for my liking. I think they look rather cheap and nasty in bits.

I like a clean car but there is no way I'd spend so much time to do that.

Overkill, but each to their own.

I thought the Nurburgring version was a slight improvement over a standard VXR, whereas a SRI turbo was not as good as a GSI?

Think that may affect the values a bit.

888 coupe are still more expensive

Depends on your opinion as always;

Prodrive Bodykit which is more aggresive, preferred the wheels on the SriT and the leather from a GSI was made from the thinnest known to man imho hence why I was happy to take the slightly dull interior over duff leather. 10mm lower than GSI due to being on OPC springs as standard
What in your eye's makes it "not as good"?

Even though I own a Ltd Edition I don't consider them to be special unless they have a hardware upgrade such as the Vectra ST200 had or the Nova Sport had due to Homologation purposes - stick on carbon and graphics doesn't float my boat I'm afraid

The 888 Coupes seem to hold their price well (probably due to the fact that most of them seem to be in mint condition) at least the one's that I see about anyway, which brings us back to Marc maintaining the value of his car due it's condition rather than diminishing it due to his mods (Which are mostly reversible from what I remember)

Credit to him for doing what he loves. I'm all for doing a proper job cleaning my car, but that really is a different game. I don't think people can judge him on it though, I'm sure many of you waste more time down the pub than he does with his mates cleaning his car.

I like nice looking cars but going to that extreme is pointless on a lets face it a **** Vauxhall (its not a work of art is it now) and I bet if you see it driving down the street you would never know that it has been cleaned every 3 days and 51 layers of wax and crap.
All he has done in my eyes is clean a clean brand new car put some ice in it and put some crappy chrome all over it so about the same as most other chav type people do so does that make him a chav? Well he is a bit special, and I don’t mean the kind that can bend spoons with his mind.
totally agree Tap's
