A mate at work has just sprayed a wing for his car using spray cans.
i have offered to let him use my electric mop and some G3 to finish it off.
I was just wondering how long should it be left before using the mop on the paint?

should give it a light sanding with very fine paper then mop it up

give it 24hours to dry,
the light wet sand with a bit of 1500-2000 paper, then mop,
just watch the edges!
I'm louder than gods own revolver and twice as shiney.
It's been about 1 week now since it was painted.
Will it still be ok to sand it with wet and dry?
Will watch the edges, I learnt that on another car that had a resprayed panel where the edge hadnt been covered enough![]()
It's usually ok the next day to sand with wet and dry.Originally Posted by Terry
Make sure after G3-ing the panel you polish it....a good few times and vigorously.
yeah thats long enought,
will be fine to wet sand/flat,

Ok cheers guys.
I'll let him know to flat it back. What paper she he use is 1500 a little risky, should he use finer?
He's gonna G3 the full car and polish with meguairs i'll borrow him. it's a red car so will need all the car doing to match the paint as much as possible.
1500 can be ok. 2000 is good, all depends on how well it was painted. You may need 1000grit if you have loads of orange peel in it. Then go over with 1500 and then 2000.
i wouldnt ever go as low as 1000,
1200 is the lowest we go at work and the lowest i'd go,even on big thick orange peel,

That's because you use 2k. If that panel's been sprayed in celly or acrylic and enough coats, it can easily take 1000 to remove OP, then you bring it back with lighter grades.Originally Posted by Benn
I'll ask him to bring the wing into work for me to have a look at and see how the finish is.
He told me he rub it back and sprayed it a second time after he wasnt happy with the first attempt, i'm guessing it has a good few coats on there.
I'll suggest trying 1500 first and see how he gets on with that.
even on celly,or anything i wouldnt use 1000,
1500 should be fine terry,

1500 wouldnt wipe the **** off a my ass lmao , its like sweet wrapper paper be there all day & the next week.
I would only use 1500 to finish the job, 2000 may aswell use paper.
