Just polish with Autoglym Super Resin polish and wax with Meguires Gold Class wax.
If your paint is very bad then get hold of an electrical buffer and some Ferecla G3 and G10 and then finish with the Megs wax.
Mike
will that polish also remove the oxidised **** thats attached itself to the paintwork?
or will i need something else?
Just use Meguiars 3 stage Gold Class.

Use G3 and a mop, then use a good polish to finish. The G3 is really good it sort of takes the top layer of paint off and gets rid of all the fading. did it on my nova once and they guy i brought it off a few weeks before thought i had it resparyed
I used the meguairs 3 step.
The 1st step (paint cleaner) was a complete waste of money.
I took mike's advice.
I used the G3 with a buffer. Brought 3 car different car paints up real well, ask Vauxnova I did his red Vectra with it. Some panels were pink and dull. He's got some pics on here off the finished car.
The full steps I do are:
G3 with the buffer to cut the paint back.
Meguairs 2nd step (polish)
the Meguairs 3rd step (Carnuba wax).
The was makes the paint feel really really smooth.
If you find you have light scuff marks and swirls then you might wanna use the G10 after the G3.
The Ferecla stuff is not cheap but is the best stuff i've ever used clean up the paint. I bought mine from a car paint supplier.
Here's the finished job on the Vectra.
