| Touching up scratches Guys,
My bloody neighbour has gone down the side of my wheel arch and wont admit it - even though his Pug has a newly polished rear quarter still showing some scratches..grr....
Anyway I've managed to polish out the most but I've got 4 scratches through to the bottom layer but not damaging the body, They're all on the panel joins and aren't that noticible - about 4 cms long ang 2-3mm wide. Whats my best option - I'm looking to part ex the car later this year so a respray's prob money wasted. Are the Halfords scratch repair solutions any good? or are there better options like chips away etc...
It's an Astra Mk4 in pearlescent black...
cheers |

| depends how bad they are. pics ?? for a smart repair on it (chips away or similar) its gonna be about £60 + vat. if the scratches are only small then get some touch up paint and pour it into a small pot. roll up a bit of paper (printer paper, not newspaper) and make it into as small a point as possible. dip it into the paint but make sure there is only a very small amount of paint on the paper. use this to touch the scratches up, the point is fine enough to only put paint in the scratches so it wont look to bad.

| Cheers Mate,
I'll give it a go tomorrow. I've been lucky where the scratches have landed so I think just a cover will do. Just have to hope it's dark and muddy when I trade in the car!! |

| ^ Sounds a good idea
If not to make it look better it's to stop it rusting.
Try motorworld for a touch up pen - they have a very fine tip for doing scratches with. |

| Yup,
Given it a first go with a touch up pen - will add some lacquer tomorrow - is it a case of adding more than enough lacquer than needed then polishing back to the original paint level? |
