| Re: Nice Shiney car! What we need is what ever it is they use to coat the plastic caps of those spray cans in B&Q. It certainly ain't whats in the tin! Several companies do a 2 pack "chrome effect" but its more like semi-polished aluminium effect really. |

| Re: Nice Shiney car! Top and second cars are different. I would guess it's a VERY good p'shop with 3D help for the shine. I could be just an expensive manufacturer PR gig, but like Lee says, no marks in the snow - although their design people would have sorted that out in Pre-production.

| Re: Nice Shiney car! Whilst Merc have got chrome cars, those ones are fake (And the rest in the series). Can see on the pic where the car's between the trees where the textures have gone flat (Look at the stones on the bottom left) and the bushes/trees in the field are dodgy too, they're simply mirrored on to both sides.

| Re: Nice Shiney car! well i beg to differ! dont you think that with all the billions of pounds that mercedes have got they'd be able to afford to chrome-plat a couple of motors! plus i work in a bodyshop and know that the distortion in the reflection around the curves is to accurate to be a photo shop!
also dont you think that the car could have been put in place by a fork lift or even a helecopter with their budget! another thing id like to point out is that the doors arn't mirrored due to the fact that there is grass on the top left of the right door but not the top right of the left! i'd love to be proved wrong so if any1 would care to photoshope sets say lee mays car to look chrome and get it anywhere near th quality of the mercs ill agree with you 100%.
i know theres lots of photoshoppers here so get working! |

i know theres lots of photoshoppers here so get working! | As I said, whilst they do have chrome cars, those ones are fake. It's not only photoshop, they'll be done in 3D programs like 3D Studio Max & MAYA.
Basically, they model the car and they can then composite at any angle on to any background, or make their own (Like the one with the trees etc). Here's a few links to modeled cars, whilst they're not realistically rendered, you get the idea: http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?t=176362 http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?t=176329 http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?t=176295 http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?t=175850 http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?t=175701 http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?t=175692 http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?t=175574
Now, these ones are more realistic. http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?t=175500 http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?t=175557
You can kinda tell this one's CG, but it's good: http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?t=175249 |
