Network Question....

Will this ethernet switch allow me to connect two xbox360's to a router that only has one ethernet port to allow them both online at the same time?

The switch is only £11.62 if i order online and collect in store (makes no sense i know!) Its only a temp setup as i'll only have two xbox360's in the house for a month, PS3, both laptops, Wii and desktop PC are all wirless, its only the xbox's that cause a temp problem so dont really want a new router. If i can share the one spare ethernet port on my existing router for £11.62 with the above switch i'd be happy?

Re: Network Question....

Got one and have it all hooked up, have another PC talking to the router through the switch so hopefully when the second 360 gets here tomorrow it'll work ok.

Re: Network Question....

It should do, as it sounds like you have DHCP turned on, so it should get an ip address automatically, and work straight away.

Now start the countdown to the wheel of death.

Re: Network Question....

Depends what router. Some ADSL routers I've used are set to DHCP but will only actually give out one or two addresses. Any other devices that are attached to them don't get an address.

In theory though, yes.

You know those ADSL routers that certain big telecomms companies give out...?

I mean... I'd love to nip in there and change the scope, maybe add a reservation or two, but more often than not you can't do a thing with them.

Re: Network Question....

Ahh i see.

Normally the newer crap std routers that have rj45, have some kind of interface. If you go to ipconfig/all, and get the router address, stuff it in the browser and if asked use the username and password admin. I know the BT sharksfin, and the voyger can do it.
