HELP: PC Sound Card

Please help me.

My old pc speakers (5.1 surround sound from Aldi) buggered up so i bought a Trust 5.1 surround setup from Argos, the only problem being that the new one ive bought has 3 jack plugs that need plugging into the sound card and my sound card thats built into my motherboard (supposedly 5.1) has only 2 jack sockets for speakers and one for mic.

I today bought a Creative Sound Blaster XFi from Pc World that i was told should do the trick. Ive followed the instructions by removing the software for the old sound card (cant remove the actual soundcard as its built into the motherboard!!) ive installed the new hardware and re started the pc.

Found new hardware came up, brilliant!! Install drivers form cd. Erm no Creative Hardware found!!

Its obviously finding the original sound card but not the new one ive installed. How can i get round this problem?

My motherboard is an A S Rock one DDR400 not sure of the model number but could find out if i went into the loft.

PLEASE HELP ME

Re: HELP: PC Sound Card

Restart your computer, go into the BIOS and disable the onboard sound.

It should pick up your new sound card regardless though.

Re: HELP: PC Sound Card

Somewhere in the software package for your onboard sound will be an option to use the mic+line in sockets as centre+sub and rear outputs for 5.1

Control panel.

Find your exact mtoherboard model please. Asrock write them on the motherboards themselves so you could find it by removing the PC side panel.
