Any way around throttled Broadband?

My Broadband just started getting throttled again, im with BT. It comes and goes, its been find for ages, but just switched back to having my torrents (bitcomet 0.84) throttled to 18kbps (even if i try simultaneous downloads it just spreads the kbps over them to it equals 18kbps)

Just wondering if there's anything i've missed about a bypass or something to stop getting throttled.

Oh, and ive already got protocol encryption enabled.

Cheers

Re: Any way around throttled Broadband?

Packet encryption can work. As can using the HTTP port.

Re: Any way around throttled Broadband?

Is it just torrents that are restricted or is everything slow? If it's just torrents you should be able to get around it by enabling encryption in your client IIRC, if it's everything (HTTP downloads etc) then you're screwed

Re: Any way around throttled Broadband?

Xen0phobiak: I have this have added a few additional lists to it too for more security

Trevor: what do you mean by using the http port? and packet encryption, are these quick easy things to set up? Cheers

kNeo_gHau: pretty sure its just the torrents, i use xbox live and the internet to browse, and they dont seem like they're going at 18kbps

Ive set these in relation to my download/upload speed to optimise the speeds, the speed is fast when its not being strangled by BT (which seems to be only in peak hours thankfully)

j17sparky: ill try that next time

Na, its a limit that bt put on it, two of my mates on bt get this too, its in effect in peak hours so everyone can have fast facebook, porn and ebay when they get in from work

Its literally like a switch, one minute i have 5 or 6 torrents going at 60+ kbps each, then all of a sudden it switches to 18kbps spread over all of them. Gonne try using port 80 next time it happens.

Re: Any way around throttled Broadband?

IF its only at certain times just set up a schedule on yoru torrent app. uTorrent allows you to turn it on and off on a timer aswell as limiting the speed if you wish (for when you want your internet to be fast so you can look at porn)

Re: Any way around throttled Broadband?

Try UTorrent, it always bypasses throttling with me, but I've always had ****ty speeds on torrents (try 3kb/s).

I used that for ages before bitcomet, but i heard some stuff about it having connections with a tracker company or something, cant really remember now, bitcomet is pretty good.

They're all pretty much the same once you've forwarded the ports and set them up. Its normally a pants torrent if the speeds and low.
