Anyone know where I can get a 15V DC supply from?

I need to get a 15V supply to power my ECU to map it. Anyone have any suggestions as to where said 15V could be sourced from around the home, ie household appliances, etc? Or do I need the sort of thing you used in physics that gave a variable supply?

All I can find is 12V

have a look at maplins for a 240v supply that drops to a selection of voltages.

Re: Anyone know where I can get a 15V DC supply from?

Best to grab a 13.8V 5A supply from Maplin.

13.8V is the normal operating voltage for a running vehicle (its a pretty standard voltage for designers to base their automotive designs on).

XM22Y should do you nicely at just under £20

Cheers Dom, I'll try and get up tomorrow and buy one. I was kind of hoping there'd be something around the house I could sabotage

No idea

I'm told that 12V doesn't work on the ECU though

12v must work - the car can only supply ~12v from the battery until it is running! Without this the ECU couldn't be 'on' to monitor the crank signal.

I guess so, but maybe to do the remapping part it needs that higher voltage

I know that when others tried it 12V never worked.

Re: Anyone know where I can get a 15V DC supply from?

They probably tried it on a low power AC adaptor not intended for powering a ECU.

If you have a decent high current (>5 amps) power supply then it should be fine.
